2022 CTA John Swett Awards

The California Teachers Association's 64th annual John Swett Awards for Media Excellence seeks to do that by giving credit where it's due and honoring compassionate education journalism.
Established in honor of CTA's founder, the John Swett Awards spotlight the achievements of newspaper and broadcast media professionals who successfully helped to educate the public about the vital role public education plays in society.
Only CTA Chapter Presidents or Service Center Council chairpersons can nominate media work that appeared during 2022, making this competition unique among such contests. Media professionals cannot nominate themselves. Additionally, their work is judged by other media professionals, not CTA. Entry details can be found at cta.org/john-swett-awards. The deadline for CTA to receive nominations is Friday, March 3, 3023.

2022-2023 CTA Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The California Teachers Association is excited to announce the twenty-ninth anniversary of the CTA Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund.
January 15, the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., signals the "kick-off" of the CTA Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship. As in the past, we are asking the entire CTA family to participate in this important organizational program.
We are all keenly aware of the drastic shortage of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) educators in California. The CTA Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is an important component in recruiting more BIPOC educators into our profession.
Online applications are available on the CTA website at: www.cta.org/mlk-scholarships. Applications must be submitted online by Friday, February 10, 2023.
